By 9 June 2024, European Union’s citizens will have elected their European Parliament representatives for the next 5-year term. This vote marks a first milestone of the EU institutional change which will close with the new EU Commissioners taking office by end of the year. The composition of the new European Parliament will have an immediate impact as its newly elected Members will approve the next EU Commission President and Commissioners. Policy priorities and political direction of the EU will directly impact our industry and value chain for the coming years.

This value chain session will share insights on the transition process and provide a first analysis of the election outcome and its potential impact on the plastics industry and its value chain, look at the future of the EU Green Deal, and cover key milestones for the rest of 2024 and what to look out for next.

This session will include as speakers:

  • Paolo Campanella (Secretary General FEAD, the European Waste Management Association)
  • Virginia Janssens (Managing Director Plastics Europe)
  • Moderator: Sylvie Aitken (Communications Director Plastics Europe)
